Amazon Announces the Fire Tablet, Should Apple Be Nervous?

It’s been a long time waiting, but the time has come for the kindle to start burning. Amazon has finally announced the “Fire”. their full blown Android based tablet. With the first shipments leaving their massive storehouses on November 15th, Apple should be worried this holiday.

The 7-inch tablet will be lacking a microphone, camera, and 3G capabilities, but the $199 price tag more than makes up for the features it’s missing.

iWood

Not sure about the name, but the idea is nice. Your kids are never too young to start playing with a Mac. You can get them this $35 one so they’ll leave your $2000 real one alone.

What do you think?

The World’s First Magic Powered Pen

I don’t who else other than designer’s will be interested in this one. Wacom introduces Inkling, a new digital sketch pen that captures a digital likeness of your work while you sketch with its ballpoint tip on any sketchbook or standard piece of paper. Maybe it’s not magic, but it’s pretty brilliant wouldn’t you say?

Incase Launches New Audio Line, Listen In Style

Anyone who has at least seen me in person knows I enjoy my Incase bags. I’m pretty much always carrying around my black nylon Incase Compact Backpack. So, suffice it to say, I was intrigued when I had heard that Incase was expanding their product line into the portable audio realm.

Unfortunately, I haven’t been able to get my hands on a pair, so Gizmodo’s review of the Incase Sonic headphones will have to hold you over for now.

While I’ll likely not be buying a pair due to what sounds like mediocre audio quality based on Gizmodo’s take of the cans, I’d really like to try some on. Memory foam ear cups? I needs of some them.

You can see the entire lineup of Incase headphones here.

In the meantime, you can ogle over my newly purchased P-Rod duffel bag.

Awwww yeeeeeeaaahhhhh!

Full Catwoman Costume Revealed

A batch of spy photos from the Los Angeles set of The Dark Knight Rises reveal Anne Hathaway in full costume as Catwoman.

Catwoman’s “ears” are created when she pushes her night-vision goggles onto her head as you might do with sunglasses, creating the impression of the character’s signature pointy ears. Selina Kyle also wears a black mask underneath her goggles. Overall, Hathaway’s Catwoman looks far more reminiscent of Julie Newmar’s on the classic Batman TV series.

I’m trying to reserve judgement until the movie comes out, but honestly I’m kind of “meh” on her costume so far. Although, I do think the goggles are pretty cool.

Real-Life TRON Light Cycle

The Parker Brothers have returned with an all-electric model of their replica Tron Light Cycle that can be driven for 100 miles on a 15-35 minute charge. Powered by a 96-volt electric motor charged up by lithium batteries, and a top speed of 100 mph. The Parker Brothers are working on making the bike street legal, and the pricing and availability have not been announced. You can watch a video of it in action.

Seems like turning might be an issue.

Video Chat Face Masking

Using a code mashup of Jason Saragih’s facetracker and Kevin Atkinson’s image clone code Barcelona-based programmer Arturo Castro shows us the first steps toward easy video chat face masking that is far more convincing than you might think. In just one quick session Castro puts on the faces of Paris Hilton, Fidel Castro, Steve Jobs, Vladimir Lenin, Marilyn Monroe, Andy Warhol, Mao Tse-tung, Brad Pitt, Michael Jackson, Salvador Dali and of course President Barack Obama.

It’s only a matter of time before you won’t be able to trust who you are talking to on FaceTime.
