It’s finally been accomplished! Unfortunately we don’t have word on how to do it ourselves (yet) but Siri has been fully ported to the iPhone 4 and iPod Touch by developer Steven Troughton-Smith and Chpwn. They have succeeded in enabling both devices to properly communicate with Apple’s Siri servers. You can see the 9To5Mac exclusive video below:
Well, we know that quite a few iOS devices are capable of using Siri. I guess the real question is when will Apple actually allow devices other than the iPhone 4S to use it.
In the video below euwars, a new hacker on the scene, demonstrates that Siri does in fact “work” on the iPod Touch. But, as with all of the other non-iPhone 4S iOS devices it doesn’t actually connect to Apple’s servers rendering Siri completely useless.
In my opinion, I feel that Apple has future plans to release Siri to older iOS devices as a downloadable app from the App Store for $30, which I would gladly pay. Obviously, this is complete speculation. But I can dream, right?

If you haven’t checked this out yet it’s pretty neat.
The BBC’s web app determines what number human you are based on your birth date. As you can see from the image above, I’m estimated to be the 5,206,904,482nd currently alive. In terms of human history it’s a completely different story. Find out what number you are here.
What is it about Jurassic Park that continues to capture the public’s imagination, even almost two decades after its theatrical release? Dinosaur Tracking‘s Brian Switek weighs in on the enduring cultural significance of Jurassic Park, why the sequels failed to live up to the original, and how Jurassic Park IV could play a huge role in overhauling society’s perception of dinosaurs.
Watch how future technology will help people make better use of their time, focus their attention, and strengthen relationships while getting things done at work, home, and on the go.
I don’t think poor people fit into Microsoft’s future? Also, according to this vision it seems the sun will be greatly missed.
Since Apple hasn’t announced iTunes Match’s official release date yet, we’re forced to speculate when the service will be available to the general population. When Apple launched it into beta late this past August, they warned early users that there may be period data resets. Yesterday, Apple (after having warned beta users to backup their iCloud information and turn iTunes Match on all of their devices) reset and removed all iTunes Match libraries. This got us thinking that the official release is imminent.
We posted the the trailer for this thing a while back. Now here’s the full story of The Gadget Show’s FPS gaming simulator build. This video contains the highlights.
Commissioned by Bioware for this past summer’s Comic-Con. This replica of the new N7 rifle looks real enough to scare a reaper or two. This will go nice with your N7 hoodie and flight suit. However, I don’t think it folds up into a nice little square to carry on your back.
Kind of a strange event regarding Dag Kittlaus, co-founder of Siri which was acquired by Apple in April of 2010. According to Kara Swisher of All Things D., Kittlaus left his position leading the development of speech recognition soon after the 4S launch.

Swisher made the following comment regarding potential reasons for his departure from Apple:
“There were several reasons for the departure, which was amicable and has been planned for a while, sources said,” Swisher wrote. “They included Kittlaus’ family being in Chicago, a desire to take time off and an interest in brainstorming new entrepreneurial ideas.” Continue reading →
